Challenging Exclusion: Refugees' Uptake of Mobile Money

Download16 pages

One of the society segments that are often left out of the financial system is refugees. Women refugees specifically can be at a disadvantage despite their sometimes key role in managing the livelihood of their families. In its endeavors to understand the needs and barriers to financial inclusion of different society segments, JoPACC conducted a digital experiment to investigate the appetite of female refugees in Jordan towards mobile money and experiment with different interventions to study their behavior and better cater to their needs in collaboration with sector players.

The ultimate aim of the experiment is to extract and disseminate knowledge from the market, to reverse the drift between the service provider and the consumer, in the hopes of the former offering products and services that will better meet the needs of the consumers.
