Measuring the Impact of Microfinance: Looking to the Future

Review of the latest literature on impact and suggestions for future research

This is the third report in the Grameen Foundation series, Measuring the Impact of Microfinance. The report examines research on the growing range of financial services being offered in underserved communities, including microloans, savings, microinsurance and mobile payment systems. The author finds that microloans and savings are overall positive and notes encouraging results from early research on insurance and mobile payments. She also calls on researchers to expand their focus to integrated services, which are becoming more commonplace.
