This report provides the outcomes of livelihood cash grant program implemented for older people affected in 14 tsunami villages in Aceh, Indonesia. It aims to:

  • Contribute to evidence that older people should be included in livelihood projects in development and post-emergency programs;
  • Serve as resource for professionals working in development or emergency programs;
  • Highlight challenges and issues faced while implementing the project;
  • Provide ideas for policy level changes in implementing similar program in future.

The report details the process adopted by the program and its impacts. It also describes different interventions that can strengthen it in terms of training, creating links between the Older Peoples’ Associations, NGOs and government programs, and setting up an income generating project.
