Summary of Workshop Evaluations

This document presents a summary of the results of the evaluation forms completed by participants of the 'Newly Independent States (NIS) Policy Forum on Microfinance Law and Regulation Forum'.

The forum combined workshops with delegation meetings in three tracks: non-depository non banking microfinance, depository non banking institutions, commercial banks, and specialized microfinance banks.

This evaluation report contains:

  • The results of the workshop evaluations submitted by participants;
  • A summary of recommendations for each of the two days of conference;
  • A summary of participant overall recommendations.

The report states that:

  • Conference participants were pleased with the information that the forum presented and the quality of the forum;
  • Participants demonstrated energy, enthusiasm and commitment to improve and the enabling environment for microfinance programs in the region;
  • Time for networking opportunities ranked as the activity with the lowest satisfaction among participants;
  • A majority of participants demonstrated their interest in ongoing technical assistance, educational opportunities, and resources to strengthen the work of their delegations on microfinance law and regulation.

The overall recommendations of the conference included:

  • Having smaller groups and internet access;
  • The provision of more case studies about the supervision of credit unions in developed countries and credit risks;
  • Thinking of the forum as a starting point for a dialogue between experts and national delegations.
