Networking Microfinance Activities in Ethiopia: Challenges and Prospects

This paper indicates the conditions under which the network Association of Ethiopian Microfinance Institutions (AEMFI) was evolved. It:

• Lists the stages involved in the institution-building process of the AEMFI;
• Describes the experience gained from establishing the association;
• Identifies the role of the network under the new environment;
• Outlines the planned activities of the network.

• Objectives of the network: To improve access to information and facilitate experience sharing among microfinance practitioners, policy makers, donors, the public, build local capacity and expertise in the sub-sector;
• The constraints of the networking process;
• Progress made to date;
