Microfinance Clients in Lima, Peru: Baseline Report for AIMS Core Impact Assessment

Do microfinance clients differ from non-clients as microentrepreneurs?

Describes the context, design, and findings of a baseline survey of microentrepreneurs conducted in August 1997 in Lima, Peru. Provides insights into the household economies and microenterprises of Lima's entrepreneurs. Yields extensive information on Accion Comunitaria del Peru (ACP) clients and on the non-client comparison group.

Concludes that ACP clients and non-clients share similar characteristics, but in other ways they are significantly different. Where differences exist, they almost uniformly point to the advantageous position held by the clients.
