The Role of Cash Transfers in Building Resilient Households: Lessons From the Arid Lands of Northern Kenya
In 2007, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) - then known as Department for International Development – tasked Financial Sector Deepening Trust (FSD Kenya) with designing the Hunger Safety Net Program (HSNP) to pilot cash transfers as an alternative to food aid, which was the principal means of supporting the poorest and vulnerable households.
The webinar was curated to share successes and lessons learnt from the implementation of the HSNP program. Speakers at the webinar will include experts in social protection and payments from FSD Kenya, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and the Government of Kenya.
