The Opportunity for Digital and E-commerce Payments in the Pacific Region

Pacific Islands countries have an opportunity to leverage digital payment solutions to help provide equitable access to financial services as well as potentially improve economic conditions. Despite efforts taken by individual Pacific Islands countries to develop payments infrastructure, several challenges have constrained progress.

This paper explores challenges and opportunities for digital and e-commerce payments in the Pacific Region. Findings from this study are utilized under the newly launched Pacific Digital Economic Programme to plan and implement activities that help in enabling inclusive digital economies in the Pacific.
