Delinquency Management Technical Brief

Addressing the need for ongoing training and change management as keys to managing delinquency

Habitat for Humanity’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter's "Building Assets, Unlocking Access" project provides technical assistance to six leading financial institutions in Uganda and Kenya to develop housing microfinance products and nonfinancial support services for people living on $5-10 per day. Several years into the project, macroeconomic changes led to an increase in the portfolio at risk over 30 days (PAR30) in one of the institutions. To address this, the Terwilliger Center designed a delinquency management training.

This brief provides a quick look at the rationale, content and impact of the training, as well as the key lessons for other financial institutions.
