Status of Microfinance in India 2015-16

This National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) report presents comprehensive data received from various reporting banks across the country on the developments in the area of microfinance for the period of 2015-16.

The report looks at the progress of the Self Help Group - Bank Linkage Program (SHG-BLP), the largest microfinance program in the world today touching 101 million households. It provides insight into the strategic action plan on SHG-BLP, including: 

• Evolving quality standards;
• Financial literacy;
• Digitization of SHGs;
• Livelihood promotion;
• Creating proper eco-system for SHG-BLP and other functions facilitating greater credit flow to SHG.
