This paper presents the regulation that defines licensing procedures for banking institutions and branches of foreign banks. It has been developed in accordance with the Laws of Georgia.

The regulation was approved on September 10, 1998 by the President of the National Bank of Georgia. The four page regulation covers:

  • General provisions;
  • Issued capital and partners;
  • Licensing application;
  • Licensing of foreign bank branches; and
  • Merger, acquisition, and splitting of commercial banks.
