Faulu Microfinance Bank has committed KSH 1.5 billion (≈ $11.424.219,30) to enable farmers in 47 counties in Kenya to purchase farm and animal inputs.

MICT, Inc. and Visa (NYSE: V) have announced the launch of their pan-African strategic partnership, which aims to improve access to digital payments and financial services, and drive financial inclusion across Africa.

The partnership is leveraging digitization in the financial sector accelerated by the pandemic to create unique, Africa-specific products that will increase access of credit to the underbanked across the continent.

The development of the digital currency was born out of the need to provide "financial inclusion to the 36 million Nigerians who currently lack access to financial services."

The $3 million seed extension round was backed by DOB Equity, Globivest, and Willard Ahdritz. The latest round brings to $7 million the amount of capital that the fintech has now raised via this funding round.

The collaboration will see Development Finance Corporation support potential investments of up to $50 million in organizations within the Mastercard Community Pass network.

Per the statement, the pledge will further scale Visa’s operations in Africa and deepen collaboration with strategic partners, including governments, financial institutions, mobile network operators, fintechs and merchants.
