The Queen of Spain Meets With the Young Scholarship Winners From the BBVA Microfinance Foundation

Six young students from Colombia and Peru, the children of vulnerable entrepreneurs served by the BBVA Microfinance Foundation met with the Queen of Spain after winning the college scholarships granted by the foundation and BBVA in Colombia. These scholarships cover tuition and academic costs for the young students until they finish their studies. It is an opportunity for them to have a better future for themselves and their families.

BBVA Chair Carlos Torres Vila and Javier M. Flores, CEO of the BBVA Microfinance Foundation, accompanied them during their audience with the Queen. The BBVA Chair underscored that “the efforts and enthusiasm of these young people to progress and help improve their parents’ small businesses is admirable. This makes a total of 131 children of vulnerable entrepreneurs in Colombia and Peru who have gone to college thanks to these scholarships. We will remain committed to education as the driver of social development.”
