Blockchain Startup Sempo Wins Startup Victoria Impact Prize for Financial Inclusion Solution

Fintech Sempo has taken home the top prize at Startup Victoria and Giant Leap’s Impact Pitch Night, for its blockchain-based solution improving financial inclusion in developing countries.

The competition, held in Melbourne last week, featured four high-growth profit-for-purpose businesses driving social or environmental change, who pitched to a panel of judges and a packed out audience with standing room only. In his winning pitch, Sempo co-founder Nick Williams said 1.7 billion people globally, or one-in-three adults, don’t have access to a bank account.
