41 Organisations From 27 Countries Compete for the European Microfinance Award 2019

The preliminary application round for the EUR 100,000 European Microfinance Award 2019 on Strengthening Resilience to Climate Change has now closed, and we are delighted to announce that 41 organizations from 27 countries have applied.

The field of applicants is very diverse. They include 18 non-bank financial institutions, five banks, four non-governmental organizations, two cooperatives/credit unions, two insurance companies, two networks/associations, two social enterprises, two companies, one technical service provider, one private foundation, one insurance broker, and one agricultural organization. 14 are based in Latin and Central America, 11 from sub-Saharan Africa, eight from South Asia, four from South-East Asia, two from Eastern Europe, one from Central Asia and one from the Middle East.

These applications will now be considered against a range of criteria, with some of them contacted by early May to submit a full application for Round two.
